Between Indoor and Outdoor Climate - Window

Post-Designosaur Research Practice.

Winter 23.  Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture (IBEA). TU Braunschweig. Prof. Elisabeth Endres.

A seminar on the building climatic effects of the window as an architectural element.
Construction always implies energy consumption. On the one hand, in the form of grey energy. On the other hand, in the form of operating energy. By using this energy, we create a specific indoor climate that is decoupled from the outdoor climate and thus a comfortable environment for people at all times. In times of climate change, however, the question arises to what extent the outdoor climate and the indoor climate can still be considered "decoupled" from each other. The energy we use to build and operate houses has led to radical and rapid changes in the outdoor climate. The climate crisis and the Anthropocene thesis clearly and unmistakably show us how serious our design decisions are. Through the building design, and thus our spatial, conceptual and design decisions, we significantly influence how energy-intensive a building is. Our architectural decisions influence not only the indoor climate, but also our environment and thus also the outdoor climate.

Breathable Construction II:

Between Wall Construction and the Anthropocene Thesis

Post-Designosaur Research Practice. Teaching assignmen.

A seminar on Prof. Helga Blocksdorf's topic "Breathable Construction.”
Summer 22.  Institute of Construction (IKON). TU Braunschweig. In cooperation with  Prof. Elisabeth Endres. Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture (IBEA). TU Braunschweig.

“1:1 - DESIGN IMPRINTS! NOT BUILDINGS.”

Online exhibition based on the Post-Designosaur Researche Practice.

“In the Holocene, we designed buildings and the imprints emerged. The Anthropocene thesis suggests that we must first design the imprints so that contemporary buildings can emerge.”
